Divinity: Original Sin 2 Update Adds Cross-Save Support for Steam and iPad

Players can now swap between the Steam and iOS versions of Divinity: Original Sin 2 after the developers add cross-save and cross-progression support.

Released back in 2017 for PC, the popular Divinity: Original Sin 2 has made its way onto a number of different gaming platforms over the past few years. The highly successful RPG is now available to play on Xbox and PlayStation consoles along with the Nintendo Switch. In a new patch, the developers released a feature that should please fans of the game on PC and the recently added iOS version.

While the RPG has been out on a number of systems for years now, an iOS version of Divinity: Original Sin 2 released earlier this year. In a recent update, the developers added cross-save and cross-progression support between the iOS and Steam versions of the game. This new update allows players that started the adventure on a PC save to transfer the game over to an iPad, and they can then access the saved game back on their PC when they return without losing any progress.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 offers players a critically-acllaimed RPG experience. One of the main highlights of the game is a character builder that allows players to create an adventurer to their liking. Featuring a dynamic turn-based combat system as a part of the core gameplay experience, the game presents players with an exciting story to partake in. The game also includes split-screen co-op for those that want to play with friends as well as support for online multiplayer.

For those interested in checking the game out for themselves, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is on sale through the GOG store. This is just one of the many titles discounted during GOG's RPG Month event. Throughout the month of September, the company is offering 48 hour flash deals on a number of different games along with showcasing some new RPGs coming to the platform in the following days.

As Divinity: Original Sin 2 players check out the game's new compatibility features, the developers at Larian Studios continue to work on the company's next title, Baldur's Gate 3. While gamers can play the game as part of early access, this unfinished version only includes the first act of the game. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait a while longer to see its conclusion as the full release of Baldur's Gate 3 is a long way in the future according to the developers.

Until the Steam Deck brings handheld play to PC gaming, the addition of cross-play and cross-save support between Steam and iOS versions of Divinity: Original Sin 2 adds an extra level of convenience for fans looking for portability. It will be interesting if the developers have any other updates in mind for the 2017 game moving forward.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is available now on iPad, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
